A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving & Charles Schulz
Posted by Tyler Mills in TelevisionPeople need something to smile about this holiday season. Charlie Brown’s Thanksgiving is something that should give people plenty of hope during times when they may have lost faith in the concept of unity and whether people forget about caring for one another.
ABC also took the time to show “This is America Charlie Brown” which was the second part of the hour Charlie Brown related programming schedule. There are a lot of good reasons to have your kids watch this kind of programming because it can give them a good sense of how this country was founded and they try to do it in an entertaining way.
Charles Schulz really tried to set up story telling that would last the test of time. People still celebrate holidays even though they may not be aware of the exact meaning of thee holidays. Parents who may complain about the fact that they don’t make good children’s related programming and movies nowadays may have a point, but this is also why they should encourage their kids to watch the different Charlie Brown shows out there for various reasons.
I would personally rate movies like Shrek and Cars as two movie franchises that certainly allow children to see good films that are also family friendly. Charles Schulz was someone who made it seem like kids did not understand where adults are coming from, but Schulz was the kind of guy who encouraged children to respect their elders when possible.
There are a number of good biographies out there about Charles Schulz including “Good Grief: The Story of Charles M. Schulz.” Some people question an unauthorized biography by David Michaels that some family members even dispute. There is always going to be some of that criticism out there when people have a successful career, whether it is a successful cartoonist, rock star or sports star for example.
