Darren Criss to Wow Glee Fans

Glee newbie Darren Criss has become the new fan favorite and overshadowed fellow newcomer Chord Overstreet.

During an interview with Rolling Stone, Ryan Murphy, creator of Glee, shared that Criss would sing a cover of Maroon 5’s “Misery” with the Dalton Academy Warblers. He said he loved that song and it would be included in an episode coming up in spring.

Murphy explains that the song will form part of Criss’ character, openly-gay Blaine’s developing relationship with Kurt, played by Chris Colfer.

He says they have not written a script yet, so he is not sure if the development will turn romantic or not. But of Criss, he says, “Darren has certainly blown up and become really sought after, and I love his interpretations of a lot of things.”

He also revealed that the soon-to-be couple will have another duet for the biggest show of the season, the Super Bowl episode set to air on February 6. Destiny’s Child “Bills Bills Bills” will most likely be part of their lineup.

When the interview with Rolling Stone asked how he feels about a Blaine and Kurt Romance, Criss admitted to some hesitation. He said he knew a lot of people would want to see Kurt with someone, but he believed that the more important thing is to give him a support system.

He expresses his concern about how a really big topic like gay teen youth needs to be taken in little steps.

“If they’re going to have a romantic relationship, I hope it’s earned, I hope it’s sincere,” he said. “I hope we can make it right for the story and not really be a cheap thrill for people who want to see that stuff.”
