The documentary “George Harrison: Living In A Material World” has been getting a lot of praise in different magazines. Martin Scorsese is someone who most people view to be a quality director. Many people would trust Scorsese to do work on their loved one after they pass away. George Harrison is one of the Beatles that has not had a lot of people talk about his career and his work. A lot of people of course viewed George Harrison as the quiet one of the Beatles. Martin Scorsese is a very busy man, but he takes the time to uncover much of George Harrison life.
Martin Scorsese has put together a film for HBO about the career of George Harrison. George Harrison was one of the Beatles who definitely was looking for a higher purpose and was very open in his exploration of spirituality. Ringo Starr is interviewed the project. Some of the more interesting points that are mentioned include the Beatles relationship with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.
Many people still do not know what to think of that relationship here in America, many people still have questions relating to many spiritual aspects of Asian culture. People also like to talk about George Harrison’s disappointment with things like the Haight Ashbury culture, George expected the area to be about a deeper cultural experience.
There is quite a bit of discussion about Eric Clapton’s love affair with George Harrison’s ex-wife Patti Boyd. Clapton is the kind of guy who like Harrison was not afraid to take on a few side projects. George did work with Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison, Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne in the Traveling Wilburys. The best thing about the documentary is that Martin Scoresese does not really try to paint George Harrison as a larger than life figure, he just tries to give us some insight into the man’s life,
