Lohan’s lawyer denies actress’ involvement in jewelry theft

Lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley said on a statement Saturday that her client Lindsay Lohan did not steal a $2,500 necklace — the first official word from the actress’ camp since the authorities said they were probing Lohan for grand theft.
“We vehemently deny these allegations and, if charges are filed, we will fight them in court, not in the press,” Holley said.
A custom jewelry store in Venice, Kamofie & Co., reported the stolen necklace to the police on January 22. A search warrant was issued Tuesday in an attempt to recover the necklace from LiLo’s house, however, it was turned in to detectives before the warrant could be executed.
The stealing incident came about three weeks after LiLo was released from the Betty Ford Center for three months of court-ordered rehab. If she will be charged, this case would be the latest problem for the “Mean Girls” star.
She has recently struggled to abide by the terms of her probation for a drunken driving case in 2007.
Last year, LiLo was sent to jail twice for violating her probation, and if she’s involved with another trouble, a judge has threatened to sentence her up to six months in prison.
