Nick Swisher to wed Gossip Girl star Joanna Garcia

Yankees outfielder Nick Swisher is set to tie the knot with gorgeous Gossip Girl actress Joanna Garcia.

The couple has recently announced their engagement but has remained mum about their plans and other wedding details.

“We kept it a secret for a while,” said Swisher, who popped the question May 19. “She was wearing that big rock, though.”

As if to celebrate the good news, Swisher, Ohioan who plays for the New York Yankees, smacked a two-run homer in the second inning of Friday night’s 8-2 victory against the Cleveland Indians. He is deemed to be one of the more productive players in baseball and is able to play a wide range of different positions. He is also a switch hitter at the plate, known for his excellent ball placement.

The 29-year-old slugger publicly acknowledged he was dating Garcia, 30, last September after reports said the couple was seen around the city. A publicist for the couple confirmed news of the engagement shortly after it broke.

Swisher is not the only Yankee with a starlet on his arm. Alex Rodriguez dated Kate Hudson last season and is currently linked to Cameron Diaz, and Derek Jeter is seeing “Friday Night Lights” star Minka Kelly.
