Wyclef Jean out of Haiti presidential race

Hip-hop artist Wyclef Jean, a Haitian but lives in the US, has just been ruled out of the country’s presidential election as the Haitian constitution requires that candidates have lived there five years before elections.
After the ruling, Jean issued a statement saying he respectfully disagreed with the council’s decision but accepted it and urged his supporters to do the same.
“We must all honor the memories of those we have lost – whether in the earthquake, or at any time – by responding peacefully and responsibly to this disappointment,” he said.
“I want to assure my countrymen that I will continue to work for Haiti’s renewal. Although the board has determined that I am not a resident of Haiti, home is where the heart is – and my heart has and will always be in Haiti.”
The 40-year-old singer formally registered to stand earlier this month and since then has encountered severe criticism regarding his qualifications as a president.
The electoral council, which ruled against Mr Jean’s candidacy, said officials had accepted 19 candidacies and rejected 15 others.

Thats’s the problem with the world today those that really want to change our world and who are sincere is not given the chance most because of our skin color by our own people. What a shame for Haiti I think Wyclef would really get the job done for Haiti he devoted so much time and money into his native land. While others have taken advantage of Haiti look what they have done stolen moeny to line their own pockets the corruption there is so sad. It has been for so many years then this man comes along willing to invest his time and money for so long once he made it in the USA and what has his country done to disowned him when they should have opened their arms to him. I pray for Haiti none the less and for Wyclef God bless you Wyclef!!!!!!!!
